hmn-644: Received an H&M Coupon Message? It’s Fake

This fake H&M 64% OFF text message is fooling people. Here how I spotted it.

I receive a text message at 19:19 that nearly caught me off guard, and I want to share what I found before anyone else falls for it.

The message came from an unknown sender and appear to be from H&M, the popular fashion retailer. It said “We are offer you an exclusive 64% OFF coupon just for you, valid until 1 Feb 2026 https://ww2.hm.com/index.htmlhnorturl.at/uBICn and applycode hmn-644 to enjoy your savirgs! savings!”

The text offer a massive 64% discount and direct me to what look like an H&M website to use code hmn-644.

I almost click. Then I look closer.

The URL Is Completely Broken

Look at this mess: https://ww2.hm.com/index.htmlhnorturl.at/uBICn

This URL is malformed and broken. It appears two different links got merged together ]”ww2.hm.com/index.html” and “hnorturl.at/uBICn” are smashed into one. The scammer made a copy-paste error. Also notice it says “ww2” instead of “www2” – missing a “w”. No legitimate company sends links this broken.

The Word “Applycode” Is Written Wrong

The message says “applycode hmn-644” the words “apply” and “code” are merged into one word. Proper English would be “apply code” with a space. This grammatical error shows the message was hastily written or generate by a bot.

“Savirgs” Is Not a Word

They tried to write “saving” but misspelled it, then wrote “saving” again on a separate line. The result is gibberish follow by the correct word. No professional marketing team makes errors this obvious.

The Discount Is Unrealistically High

64% OFF from H&M via random text message? H&M is a major global retailer. They do not send unsolicited texts offering 64% discounts to random phone numbers. Their real promotions are typically 20-30% off and are advertise through official channels their app, website, and email subscribers.

H&M Does Not Send Messages Like This

The real H&M website is www2.hm.com or hm.com not broken links merged with “hnorturl.at”. H&M communicates through their official app, verified email addresses, and their website. They do not send anonymous text messages with broken URLs and spelling errors.

I Investigate Further

I search for the hmn-644 coupon code on the official H&M website at www2.hm.com. The code does not exist. There is no “hmn-644” promotion list anywhere on H&M’s official channels.

The link in the message is design to look like H&M real domain but is actual broken and like redirects to a phishing site. Scammers are impersonating H&M to steal personal and payment information.

“Discount code is not valid”

The coupon does not work. It is not a verify H&M discount code. This confirm the text message is fake and scammers are using H&M brand name to trick people.

How to Protect Yourself

  • Do not click the broken URL in this message. It likely leads to a phishing site.
  • Do not use the hmn-644 code. It’s not a real H&M coupon.
  • Do not trust texts claiming to be from major brands with broken links and typos.
  • Do verify H&M offers only through their official website www2.hm.com or the H&M app.
  • Delete the message immediately. Block the sender. Report as spam.
