Çievri: Scam Alert – The Truth About the Currys Laptops for £2 Offer

I’ve seen this one doing the rounds on Facebook, and I need to warn you: it’s a scam.

A post claiming to be from “Currys Warehouse” is offering HP laptops for just £2 to Isle of Man residents. The story goes that the company is celebrating an anniversary and clearing out last year’s stock. All you have to do is click a link and answer three simple questions to see if you’re eligible.

It’s completely fake.

How The Scam Works

The post uses official-looking Currys branding and shows a photo of stacks of HP laptops in what appears to be a warehouse. It looks convincing at first glance. The link provided which I won’t repeat here directs you to a dodgy website designed to harvest your personal information or payment details.

The comments section beneath these posts? Filled with fake profiles saying things like “I got mine!” or “Can’t believe this is real!” It’s all part of the con to make the offer seem legitimate.

Red Flags To Watch For

If a deal seems too good to be true, it absolutely is. No legitimate retailer is selling laptops for £2. The Cyber Security Centre for the Isle of Man has confirmed this is a scam, following the same format as previous Bus Vannin scams that circulated on Facebook.

Protect Yourself

Do not click the link. Do not enter any personal information. Do not make any payments. Report the post to Facebook and warn others who might fall for it.

These scams adapt and evolve constantly. They use recognisable logos, professional-looking websites, and gamification tactics to lure people in. Stay vigilant.

If you’ve already clicked the link or entered details, contact your bank immediately and change any compromised passwords.
