A viral $75 Costco coupon is fake, Costco says. (So please stop reposting it)
I receive an email this morning that nearly caught me off guard, and I want to share what I found before anyone else falls for it.
The email appear to be from Costco Wholesale. It claimed I could get a free $75 coupon just by clicking a link and entering my details. The coupon code was Candizi. The message urged me to claim my reward immediately before it expired.
I almost clicked. Then I looked closer.
Warning Signs of Candizi Scam
| Red Flag | What I Noticed |
|---|---|
| Sender Email | Not from official costco.com domain |
| Coupon Value | $75 is unrealistically high for email offer |
| Urgency Language | “Claim now” and “Limited time” pressure tactics |
| Personal Info Request | Asked for credit card and personal details |
| Suspicious Links | Links did not go to official costco.com |
| Too Good to Be True | Free money with no purchase required |
The Red Flags I Spotted
The email was riddled with problems. The coupon looked real with official Costco logos, barcodes, store numbers, and transaction details. But something felt wrong.
The sender address was not from official costco.com domain. The email pushed me to act fast with urgent language. The $75 value seemed too generous for a random email offer.
I checked online and discovered this fake Candizi coupon has duped a sizable amount of Costco customers. It is the second year in a row the company has debunked this coupon scam.
Now I Did Next
I went directly to the official Costco website at costco.com to check for any legitimate promotions. There was nothing about a $75 coupon. No mention of the Candizi code anywhere.
“This email is a scam.“

Costco has officially confirm they do not send coupons through email or social media. Any Candizi coupon claiming to offer $75 is completely fake.
Real Costco Offers vs Candizi Fake Coupon
| Real Costco Offers | Candizi Fake Coupon |
|---|---|
| Found on costco.com only | Sent through random emails |
| Available to members only | Sent to everyone |
| No sensitive data required | Asks for personal information |
| Reasonable discount amounts | Unrealistic $75 free value |
| Professional communication | Urgent and pushy language |
| Verified Costco domain | Unknown sender addresses |
Protect Yourself
Do not click any links in suspicious emails. Do not enter the Candizi code anywhere. Do not share personal information on unknown sites. If you want genuine Costco deals, visit their official website directly.
I also recommend telling family and friends about this Candizi scam. Many people have already reposted this fake coupon on social media without knowing it is fraud. Please stop sharing it.
What to Do If You Fell for Candizi Scam
Contact your bank immediately if you entered credit card details. Change passwords on all your accounts. Monitor your credit card statements for unusual charges. Report the scam to FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov. Place a fraud alert on your credit reports.
“I almost fell for it. I hope you do not make the same mistake.”
