PoundSavingDeals: A Community of people who share deals they get.
I recently visited Pound Saving Deals, and this site is slightly different where a certain editorial team selects the items in the same way as other voucher websites. This one allows any person to create an account and add deals that he or she has found and therefore the content is posted by the users that found something interesting and not a company that decides what to post.
How It Actually Works
The website offers various groups divided into category such as outdoor gear, homeware, computers, smartphones and travel. Once a community member notices a good deal then they post with the price fall and the website of the deal.
I checked a few of them and one of the deals is a Ninja cold press juicer at Argos that is reduced to £89.99 instead of £130 which is a saving of about 40 pounds, and a 1 night stay at the château hotel in Anglesey at £99 instead of £216 through Secret Escapes that is a saving of over £50.
The outdoor section also featured some Arc’teryx jackets with very attractive big discounts one Alpha Parka that had a 382.50 off its 900 price which is a 517 pound saving assuming the numbers are correct.
Clicking Through to Deals
Once you click on any deal it directs you directly to the retailer page where that discount is already placed or indicated. You do not have to work around the site to find the actual offer and it directly takes you there.
Their Business Model
The site also uses affiliate links so that in case you are enticed to buy something with him or her, they receive a small commission of the retailer. This is rather conventional with deals sites and it does not add you anything additional, the retailer pays them to send the traffic. It identifies why they are able to operate the site without even charging anyone to use it or post there.
Community Features
Users are able to like offers, post on the same and accumulate reputation points depending on the usefulness of their posts. The homepage also displays the name of the person who posted and the time it was posted by the person so as to understand which deals are new and those that have been hanging around all day and may have actually expired.
It will not be replacing the act of checking retailers physically when they have big sales but having an entire community of people who are interested in finding discounts and sharing what they find out will cause things to have surfaced that you would have otherwise never noticed at all.
