This fake Instagram discount message is fooling people. Here’s how I spotted it.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I received an Instagram DM this morning that nearly caught me off guard, and I want to share what I found before anyone else falls for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The message came from a profile named John Doe<\/strong> with only 12 followers<\/strong> and 5 posts<\/strong>. The message said “Congratulations \ud83c\udf89 Here is a 8% OFF Coupon for you, valid for next 24hrs. Checkout<\/strong> now: https:\/\/tinyurl\/4mu3fdc”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The profile had a View profile<\/strong> button and showed a man’s photo. It looked like a normal Instagram account offering me a discount code sone-561<\/strong> for following them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Official website offer for new year:<\/em>“<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Message Is Full of Errors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The profile has only 12 followers<\/strong> and 5 posts<\/strong>. Real brands running “Follow for Discount”<\/strong> campaigns have thousands of followers and regular content. This account looks freshly created for scamming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The link uses tinyurl<\/strong> which is a URL shortener<\/strong>. Legitimate businesses send direct links to their official websites, not suspicious shortened URLs that hide the real destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discount is only 8% OFF<\/strong> which seems unusually low for a promotional campaign. Most real discount offers are 10%, 15%, or higher to attract customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The message creates urgency<\/strong> by saying “valid for next 24hrs”<\/strong>. Scammers use time pressure to make you click without thinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I Investigated the Profile<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I searched for John Doe<\/strong> Instagram account to verify if this was a real business. I found no verified business page<\/strong>. No authentic product listings. No official website linked. No customer reviews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also searched for sone-561<\/strong> coupon code. There was no trace of it on any legitimate retailer website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Code is a scam here I apply, but not a use.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
